PLEASE SHARE THIS POST WITH ALL YOUR FACEBOOK FRIENDS The entire church family at Demorest Baptist invites you to come worship the risen Savior with us at our Easter services on April 21, 2019. This is a time to come together and fellowship with one another, celebrating the joys of Jesus' resurrection. Sunrise Service: Our sunrise service will take place right outside the church in the upper parking lot at 6:45 AM. This is a time of informal worship and prayer, giving thanks to God for his loving sacrifice. The church will provide breakfast following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Morning Service: Our morning worship service begins at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary. This is a time of congregational singing and prayer. The adult choir will be presenting their Easter cantata, "Jesus is Alive!" which celebrates the majesty and power of the Lord. We would love to have you join us in celebrating the life and resurrection of Jesus Christ this Easter Sunday. Grow and love with us. God is calling us to meet new challenges and the future looks exciting. Let us move forward into a new time of spiritual growth with confidence and courage, knowing that our Lord leads us by the hand. Feel free to make yourself at home with this family of believers. We'd love to have you!
What an excellent time of worship and communion this morning. As we go through Holy Week, let us remember what Christ has done for us. God heard the cries of his suffering people and sent Jesus to us to be our Redeemer and brother. Born in the shadow of the cross, Christ was sent as our substitute for death. Romans 6:23 says that for the wages of sin is death, but Christ led a pure and sinless life. He should not have died. However, He chose to walk that long, dark road to Calvary in our stead. Jesus was beaten and tortured, for in Scripture it says that “his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness” (Isaiah 52:14). Jesus carried His cross beam through Jerusalem to Mt. Calvary, whilst being mocked, ridiculed, and spat upon by the very people He came to save. At Calvary, Christ was nailed to the tree and suspended for three hours, enduring the incredible pain. Even in His final moments, He was still expressing his deep love for us as He cried, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” As we go about our week, let’s open our eyes and reflect to see the immensity of Jesus’ love and sacrifice for us. Never take for granted this huge gift of love on our behalf. When you see the cross, let it serve as a reminder of the cost of it all. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)
